Easy Creative Projects to Try This Fall

Fall is finally here! The season where everything feels a little cozier and a lot more creative. Something about the cooler weather makes me want to grab a blanket, a notebook, and start a new project, just for fun.

If you’re like me, you might get that creative itch too, wanting to make, bake, or do something that fills you up instead of drains you.

So, I made a list of easy creative fall projects that help me stay inspired even when I’m burnout.

You can do them solo or with friends, You can do these inside or outside, the goal is just to create for the joy of it.

Host a Cozy Fall Tea Party

I used to love having “tea parties” as a kid, even though we were really just drinking hot chocolate or juice out of tiny cups, it still felt fancy. Now that I’m older, I realized I don’t have to outgrow that kind of fun.

You can throw your own version of a fall tea party right at home. Pick a theme (cozy cottagecore? fall vibes?), invite your friends, and serve warm drinks like apple cider or chai. Bake something simple or grab desserts from your favorite local bakery.

The point isn’t to be “aesthetic”, it’s to connect. I’ve noticed that when I take time to create an experience, it reminds me that joy doesn’t have to be complicated. You can make something memorable out of an ordinary day.

Make Your Own DIY Blanket

This one brings back memories! Do you remember those tie blankets everyone used to make? Two pieces of fleece, some scissors, and a little patience, that’s all you need.

I made my first one when I was eight, and to this day it’s still one of my favorite creative fall projects because there’s no pressure to be “good” at it. You just cut and tie until both sides come together.

Here’s how I like to do it now:

💜 Pick two cozy fabrics ( a pattern and solid look great together).

💜 Put on a fall movie or playlist.

💜 Snack on something sweet while you tie the edges.

By the time you’re done, you’ve created something warm and handmade. And honestly, wrapping yourself up in something you made? That’s the best feeling ever.

Do a Service-Based Creative Project

One of the best ways to stay inspired is to serve. Seriously, when I’m in a creative slump, helping someone else instantly shifts my energy. It reminds me that creativity is meant to be shared.

Try using your creative skills to give back this fall. You can:

💜 Bake cookies or fall-themed treats and deliver them to neighbors or local workers.

💜 Donate handmade scarves or blankets to a shelter.

💜 Write encouraging notes and leave them in public places.

One year, I baked pumpkin muffins and dropped them off at the fire station, and it turned into a whole conversation about kindness, and community. Moments like that always remind me that small gestures can make a big impact.

Go on a Fall Nature Walk

I know it sounds simple, but sometimes your best creative ideas come when you step away from your screen. I started going on fall nature walks when I felt stuck creatively, and every single time, I came back with more clarity than I expected.

The sound of leaves crunching, that cool breeze, the golden light, it’s all a reminder to slow down. You don’t even need a plan. Just grab your headphones or a camera, walk around your neighborhood or a nearby park, and notice what stands out.

You might find colors that inspire your next art piece, textures that spark an idea, or just a sense of peace that helps you reset. For me, being outside is like pressing “refresh” on my brain.

Create a Gratitude Gallery

This one is special. I call it my Gratitude Gallery, and it’s something I try to do every season. You can use a wall, a corkboard, or even a digital folder.

Write, draw, paint, or print out photos of things you’re grateful for, people, moments, opportunities, even those lessons that only came from mistakes. Then display them somewhere you’ll see every day.

When I started doing this, I noticed how much more motivated I felt to create. Gratitude keeps you grounded. It reminds you how far you’ve come and gives you motivation for what’s next.

And the best part? You can make it completely your own. Maybe you love ceramics and want to carve a word or symbol of gratitude into a clay mug. Or maybe you’ll paint the edges of your board, hang up string lights, or glue in a few fall leaves. However you do it, let your creativity lead.

Because honestly, staying motivated when you want to quit starts with remembering what you already have, and that simple reminder can shift everything.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to wait for the “perfect moment” to start being creative again. The magic of fall is that it gives us permission to slow down, look around, and make something just because it feels good.

So pick one idea from this list, even if it’s just the smallest one, and give yourself the space to enjoy it. You never know what that one creative spark might lead to.

Until next week,

Jada

P.S.

Sometimes the hardest part of creating is just starting. One thing that always helps me is giving myself a tiny, no-pressure task, something I know I can finish in 10–15 minutes. It could be doodling, writing a single page in a journal, or even baking one fall treat.

Those small wins stack up and keep your momentum going, especially on the days you feel like giving up. And honestly, that approach is the same mindset that helped me finish and publish my first children’s book, The Ballerina Who Wore Blue.

So today, pick one tiny creative step and do it, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Just showing up is what keeps the fire alive.
